Resilon
Gutta Percha has been the material of choice in root canal obturation for many years. However, we all know that It does not bond to dentin and is leakage prone.
A completely new material has recently come on the market. Epiphany obturation system uses Resilon soft resin as a root canal filling material.

The system is supposed to resist microleakage much better than gutta percha
Resilon is a formulation of polymers of polyester with various fillers. It is a dual cure material that was developed to handle like gutta percha. Resilon sealer and cones are dual cure, bond to dentin and form what is called a monoblock. The system is supposed to resist microleakage much better than gutta percha. Although more research is needed to ascertain that that is the case, the material looks very promising. |
